Battles
The Texas Rangers were part of the Civil War,
The Battle of Shioh,The battle of Murfreesboro, Battle of Fort Pillow, and Battle of Chattanooga.
The Civil War fought from 1861 to 1865 in the United States after seven Southern slave states declared their secession and formed the Confederate States of America (the "Confederacy" or the "South"), the states that remained in the Union were known as the "Union" or the "North". The war had began in the fractious issue of slavery, especially the extension of slavery into the western territories. After four years of fighting that left over 600,000 soldiers dead and destroyed much of the South's infrastructure, the Confederacy collapsed, slavery was abolished, and the difficult Reconstruction process of restoring national unity and asuring rights to the freed slaves, (sometimes called Freedman )began.
The Battle of Shiloh (battle of pittersburg landing), was the biggest battle in the Western theather of the American Civil War. This war only lasted a day (from April 6th-7th, 1862) in southern Tennessee.
The Battle of Murfreesboro, also called the battle of stones river was fought from December 31st,1862 to January 2,1863, in middle Tennessee. Of the major battles of the civil war, Stones River had the highest percentage of casualties on both sides. Although the battle itself was inconclusive, the Unions Army's repulse of two Confederate attacks and the subsequent Confederate withdrawal were a much-needed boost to Union morale after the defeat at the Battle of Fredericksburg, and it dashed Confederate aspirations for control of middle Tenessee.
The Battle of Fort Pillow, also named "Fort Pillow Massacre", was fought in April 12, 1864, in Henning, Tennessee. This war was fought during the civil war.

Life after war
When the war ended in February 3,1848, the Rangers had no function, Nor the state tried to get their services. The organization lost its famous captains as well as it's defenders.
Late in spring, they moved up North from the Red River "Chastise", a large band of "hosties," in the process of killing the comanche chief.
Then, in March 1859, Ford and his men where together, with the U.S army, they gained limited sucess against the "Red Robber of the Rio Grande".
After 14 years, the rangers seemed to be either signifivant or effective. They went their own ways with separate lives.
